For funsies! Draw your OCs — they don’t have to be Banquet characters, but it helps! — with two themes per week! Pick and choose, no particular order, but post your work in the Gallery so we can see! Thanks for sharing~!

 

Spectator Contests

 While our honoured GUESTS are busy drawing their entries, we will be holding some contests for Spectators!

     The Spectator Contests will be ongoing, with a winner drawn once a month. Prizes will be previewed on the Banquet blog, so check back at the start of every month to see what you could win!

Rules

  1. If there is only one entry for that month, that entry
    wins the prize for that month.
  2. If there are more than two entries, the prize will be
    awarded to the entry the judges deem to be
    the winner.
  3. The entries that did not win cannot be re-entered
    into later contests. The same character can be
    used for a different contest, however.
  4. Winners of the HAT TRICK won’t scoop up the
    prizes for that month along with the Hat Trick
    prize. They will only win the Hat Trick prize.
  5. Winners will be contacted via EMAIL from banquetoct@gmail.com! Winners will also have
    to be comfortable sharing their mailing address
    so that prizes can be mailed to them. 
  6. Guests cannot enter contests. Spectators only!

There have been many Banquets in the past, each with fewer winners than losers. Did your character play a part in a Banquet long ago?

     Spectators, your task is to create and design a former dinner guest from a past Banquet! You can use an OC, create an original character, or borrow any staff member (Aminata, Camellia, Oleander, Mithri) or a current guest! Have fun with it!

(Past guests will require permission from that OC’s owner,
and some aren’t contactable at the moment.)

     Alternatively, you could design a former Maid or Butler. Or even a Host…?

     You can select an era that corresponds to the design of the House as well. The architecture is distinctly 1860-1920. For Season 2 of Banquet, however, we will be expecting Art Nouveau stylization…!

Writers

Spectators, your task is to create and design a former dinner guest from a past Banquet! Have fun with it! 

     Writers, here are your instructions: 

 

  1. Introduce your character! Use this template.
    • Art is not required if you are working solo, but adoptables or characters built on bases are allowed.
    • AI art or writing is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
    • If working with an artist, then the artist may contribute their work to the Refsheet contest above. However, they are not eligible to win two prizes if they are contributing to a writer’s work.
  2. Then, tell the story of your character using the prompt (on the left).
    Expected wordcount: 3000
  3. Please submit your work either as a PDF, a .docx file, .RTF, .TXT, a Google Doc, a Wattpad entry, or even as a blog entry on your own website, including Tumblr, etc. Submissions via Twitter/X will not be considered.

     For clarification, this is NOT the same as the Refsheet challenge. This contest is focused on outfit design, and will be judged on period accuracy, detail, technical skill,  composition, presentation, and quality.
